i was at baybeats baybeh

[ soundcheck : coffee - copeland ]

copeland rocked baybeats last night okay. i'd never even heard of them before but last night i was very impressed by their 2 sets, one acoustic and one with the whole live band. they sound like part gin blossoms and part jars of clay and part of other bands also. I VERY LOVE. i'm a fan now and i have to HAVE TO get their cds.

fiza and i watched the marilyns when we first arrived. we kept making potshots at the vocalist who was very vertically-challenged. seriously he looked like a hobbit but they played a great set. all malay songs. i finally heard the live rendition of 'dewi hilang'. very nice.

after watching marilyns, we were on the way to the ladies when we saw this causasian guy walking around drinking water and i remarked 'hey he looks like he's from one of the bands performing here haha' and then i saw his pass clipped on his jeans pocket and realised that he was a performer. and then fiza went 'oh my god he's the singer from copeland!'. arghh. he was swaggering aound as though he was a tourist.

after snacking at mrs fields, we watched copeland's acoustic set and i was blown away. aaron marsh has such a moving voice. i love it. afterwards we took a picture with the band nyahahaha. i didnt expect to be taking pictures with the artistes when i came down to baybeats and there we were, fiza and me, so so happy to be standing so close to the band. AARON MARSH IS SO HOT LA. so geeky but so hot. and very friendly.

watched electrico's set after that and they have come a long way since last year's baybeats. the crowd was rocking with them and they played a fantastic set. am very proud they are homegrown. we stayed in the arena to watch copeland again and again i was suitably impressed. but we stayed just before they wrapped up their 45-minute set to avoid the crowd rushing for the train later on. then we were off taking pictures in front of the esplanade, in front of the baybeats banner and in between the I WAS HERE words.

baybeats 2006, i cant wait. in the meantime... FIZA! you. me. electrico. august 26. yes?

There's plenty of time left tonight
I promised I'd have you home before daylight
We do the best we can in a small town
Act like big city kids when the sun goes down

If it's not too late for coffee
I'll be at your place in ten
We'll hit that all night diner
And then we'll see

There's so many things I have to say
I'll stay up all night to hear about your day
We do the best we can in a small town
Act like kids in love when the sun goes down

If it's not too late for coffee
I'll be at your place in ten
We'll hit that all night diner
And then we'll see

There's a love that transcends
All that we've known of ourselves
And I'll wait for it to come
I'll wait for it to come
Well it's got to be strong to touch my heart
Through its shell
And I'll wait for it to come
I'll wait for it to come

If it's not too late for coffee
I'll be at your place in ten
We'll hit that all night diner
And then we'll see

There's a love that transcends
All that we've known of ourselves
And I'll wait for it to comeI'll wait for it to come
Well it's got to be strong to touch my heart
Through its shell
And I'll wait for it to come
I'll wait for it to come down
