worth the idolising?

is it just me? or does singapore idol have a lack of talent this time round? i'm not very impressed with this year's batch. and i question the judges' choices in deciding to include some bad, baaaad 'singers' to go thru after the first round auditions. especially that girl who sang 'my heart will go on'. the one who came with her soccer lovin sister. the model. jacintha was right. she butchered that song. it's ridiculous that she even went as far as the second last round. the one before the final 28 cut.

if she had made it to the top 28, it's surely proof that the singapore music industry is in the doldrums. and the judges' credibility wpuld seriously be in doubt. even the anugerah's contestants were way way better than the idol wannabes, as far as i can see.

time will tell whether this year's singapore idol will throw up some any more taufiks or olindas. real, raw talent. so far, from what i've seen on tv, that hady putra was the only one who's been impressive. ok 'impressive' is too strong a word at this stage. he might turn out to be a taufik clone, who knows. and i like that rahimah rahim girl. she's real edgy. there's something about her voice. something subtly.. poignant. rough, but tender at the same time.

come on man, give us someone to be proud of. someone we can boast about. but i know wishing for a jaclyn victor is asking for a tad too much. howell.
