and the sun shines again

or so i thought. it was shining just now. now the weather's dreary again.

been going to the mosque in the afternoon for the past 2 days. helped to pack all the clothes and stuff people donated to the tsunami victims. even the non-muslims were there. i cant exactly describe the feeling i had helping out. i felt good. i felt calm. the most meaningful way ever to start the new year.

at the mosque

so the match yesterday. those who watched on tv knew the score. but they didnt feel the electricity in the stadium that all of us did. what drama. what highs. what passion. worth every cent of the 6 dollars. the myanmar players displayed such atrocious behaviour that i cannot begin to comprehend the anger and rage they have in them. the atmosphere was phenomenal but marred by ugly supporters, both local and myanmar ones. it was scary even. all the skinheads running from one end of the stadium to the other. UGLY sight. to think that singaporeans were supposedly better educated and more civilised that the burmese. it takes two to tango. in this case it took all 30,000. there was no need for retaliation. no need for foul words. but for a game that vital it was inevitable. inevitable but uncalled for.

the lions were hardly pussycats last night.

one thing i didnt expect was to be shivering while watching a football match. hell yeah i was. the rain dampened (or rather soaked) the pitch. dampened our clothes our hair. but it didnt dampen the spirit. if anything the game yesterday brought back the familiar rush of passion, intensity and fervour that were sorely lacking in the past. didnt know i had in me to be screaming and booing incessantly in a match.

went for supper and pool with my brother-in-law and cousins after that. i didnt play though. didnt feel the need to embarrass myself in front of them.

anyway well done lions. come january 16, rain or shine, waterproof makeup or not, we'll rock the national stadium once more.
